Alaska - The Land Of Extremes

Posted on Jun 12th, 2007 by Flowerchild : Girl On A Journey Flowerchild
Alaska is the land of extremes. One part of the year is all day light and the other part of the year is mostly darkness. Yin and Yang. With extremes, it attracts extremes. Extreme environment, extreme people.

I'm from the outside looking into a world still primitive. Still naked. Still baring her unadulterated truth. I'm from a land where development is happening whether we like it or not and I'm peering into a land where laws prevent them from development. Where we want so bad for the last frontier to stay the last frontier. With a land full of natural resources and the possibilities for jobs and growth.

It was a privilege to peer into such a land. We traveled a total of more than 7,000 miles during this trip.

We were invited to stay with a friend and we had a blast! It is such a privilege to stay somewhere with someone that lives there.
Me and my friend Courtney

The moose were having their young at the time of our visit. What a great site to see a Mama and baby feeding!
Mama and baby moose feeding somewhere on the way to Valdez

One part of Alaska, in Fairbanks, the wheather was warm, in the 70's. And in Valdez, the ice bergs were still melting and the water falls were just beginning to run.

The water falls in Valdez were breath taking!

Thank you! to our friends for opening up their homes and adjusting their lives for our visit! We would do it again in a heart beat!
Thank you Courtney and Steve for memories that will last a life t

We were already making plans for a visit next year! So much to see in so little time.

We sure did! It was like one continuous day! The sun never set! That was really strange.  I'm starting to have a hard time remembering what day we did what!
