Ask and Get OUT of the Way!

Posted on Jul 11th, 2008 by Flowerchild : Girl On A Journey Flowerchild
I just finished Massage Therapy School and getting ready to sit for the National Certification Test so that I can get my license to practice in the state of Illinois.

Well I asked the Universe for a nice inexpensive place or office to rent so that I can start up a small practice. I imagined what it would look like. Very simple. Maybe an office with some wall space so that I can hang some of my own art work. Very simple, warm, inviting.

Well on Monday I had to go to a local community center to pick up my daughter after her art class. I was working, so Grandpa dropped her off and on my way home from work I picked her up.

I was a little early, so I looked at all the happenings at the community center. Jazzercise was going on in the community room. It had been a while since I had been in the building. My son used to take guitar lessons for several years upstairs. There are a handful of offices in the building, businesses that have occupied the building for many many years. Those tenants never seem to go away. However this particular day there was a sign for an office for rent. That almost never happens! I quickly wrote down the phone number and headed up stairs to The Art Room to pick up my daughter.

We walked around the building a little, it used to be a high school. I think it was built in like 1905. There were 'classrooms' all over. Most were rented offices. We were trying to figure out which office was available.

The next day, Tuesday, I called to inquire about the office available. Asked about dimensions and what the rent was. The office manager said it was approximately 760 square feet and $700 a month which included heat, electric, garbage and a shingle on the outside marque.
Holy shit! In this area that would go for $1200 a month! I've checked!
I told her I would like to see the office and set up an appointment for Wednesday.

Well I did some quick math in what would be required to open the business. I came up with $7-10,000 to get it up and running. And with a minimum of massages, on a slow day, how much a year potential I could make. This feeling of already being successful came over me. I thanked the Universe!

The next day, Wednesday, I met with the manager and she showed me the office. A chiropractor used to occupy the space. It was his satellite office, he was only there 2 days a week. The office had nice carpet and pretty much set up for massage! I would only need to do a few modifications, not too expensive! AND I would have 3 massage rooms!!!!
I could subcontract to other massage therapists!
I had such a great feeling about this!

Now for the hard part. A talk with the hubby and how to come up with ten grand. I showed him my little quickie business plan and showed him my calculations for the potential income. Usually when I run an idea to him, he can be pretty negative. He's also good at foreseeing problems that I wouldn't have thought of. Usually expenses. He used to be an accountant. He said I did a good job with the business plan.  He would just include the entire year for rent in with the start up expenses. So he suggested 20 grand to start. And he said he's going to get me the money if the board approves me to lease the office to!!!

Nothing is absolute right now, and we have not signed a lease. But I'm so excited I had to tell the world!!! Thank you UNIVERSE! I got out of my own way and look at what an opportunity!

I just talked with a friend of mine that is really good at finding things and decorating. She's willing to trade massages for decorating the office!!! I kinda suck at that. I'm good at massages!

Congrats dear one..! Go ask the nearest chiropractor for referrals and get on with insurance companies…it takes awhile but worth it! AND your state workmans compensation pays 100 percent for massages!

Good luck! Sounds like the place to be!

Denise,

I am so happy for you.  This feels like it will be … your normally negative husband with accounting experience coming on board with believing in you and your ability to make this a success is a good indication.

I will keep positive expectations that all falls into place as you desire for your highest good and that all people who come to you will feel the perfection of your alignment with your calling and be generously appreciative.
