The Blessings of a Tornado

Posted on Sep 9th, 2008 by Flowerchild : Girl On A Journey Flowerchild
On August 4, our little town here 45 miles west of Chicago had it's first tornado in 15 years. We were all home, which is a rare site of itself. My son yelled from upstairs, OMG it's a twister! I yelled get your ass down here now! LOL I got the dogs down stairs and all of a sudden this noise that I can't even describe started. Yes the freight train thingy, but it was like the train was on our house!

After just a few minutes, everything got quiet. We lost power but not for long. It was still pouring rain and we hear the door bell ring. Our neighbor is in the pouring rain ringing our doorbell. OMG! Is everything okay!? She has 2 little boys. I started to worry as I ran upstairs to let her in.

She explained that their trampoline was wedged between our huge locus tree and the second level of our house! She was so worried about us! Can you imagine! Here I am so worried about her and her boys and she's worried about us! Now that's a wonderful neighbor. We've been neighbors for 14 years. Anyway, I started laughing! I said that is so Wizard of Oz like! Then I said, hey hunny! maybe we'll get that new roof! He didn't think that was funny.

We've been thinking that we need a new roof for the last couple of years. Our roof is 14 years old. The only reason it's lasted this long is because my husband is very meticulous about maintenance on the house. Which I'm very grateful for! He takes care of a LOT of things with the house. Every fall the last couple of years we ask, will we make it through another winter??? That is the question. Coming up with $8,000 for a new roof was not in the budget.

Well the insurance guy came and a roofing contractor came. They were standing on our roof with my husband having a long conversation. The insurance guy said yes to the new roof! Thank you Universe! Plus new siding! Then my husband decided if they're going to side, now is the time to replace the doors! So an entire remodel to the outside of the house! So we're paying for the doors including the patio doors and a new garage door and the insurance is paying for the roof and siding! We've been talking about doing it for a couple of years, but just could not budget $20 grand! LOL

All of this is happening while I'm in the process of rennovating my office for my new massage business! Yikes! It's been a crazy month! But it's been fun and exciting!

We built this house together 14 years ago. And now we're practically rebuilding it again! It's been a great house and we've decided to stay here for a while.

Beauty After the Storm

Posted on Sep 18th, 2008 by Flowerchild : Girl On A Journey Flowerchild
Living in the Chicago area, you wouldn't think we would have to deal with hurricanes, right?
Well we had to deal with the remnants of the last couple of storms. Gustav another one from the Pacific and then Ike. Ike was the icing on the cake so to speak.

We had torrential down pours for days! With flooding spanding from Missouri and Indiana and Ohio. The Sox game that we were having Deaf Awareness day was canceled.

Sunday morning I teach a Pilates class at the VAC about 15 minutes from here. We had to change directions twice on our way there because of closed roads. Then coming back home, the last road that goes to our house was barely open. As we were wading our way through, I could see the water getting deeper and right behind us was the authorities getting ready to close that road.
We would not have been able to get home! Just barely made it though. Once we got through, there was no getting out.

After days of rain in our area we had about 8 inches of water.  Which wasn't bad compared to other areas. The clouds finally moved on. Monday evening I was letting the dogs out to do their thing and I looked up:

The moon after the storms

What a beautiful site! This picture does it no justice. But the beauty of the sky with a full moon was just breath taking. Reminded me that everyting is temporary and the moon will still be full and beautiful no matter what's been happening here on the earth.

One by one the roads opened up and the clean up began. There are those complaining about it, and those that are grateful.

Sex Noises During a Massage!

Posted on Sep 25th, 2008 by Flowerchild : Girl On A Journey Flowerchild
As a massage therapist, I wonder what I would do if I had someone on the table and they started making sex noises? LOL It's never happened to me. Some has fallen asleep before. I take that as the ultimate complement.

I loved the Friends TV show and I miss it. Nothing can compare to it. This was one of my favorite episodes.

TOW The Secret Closet 1 - Chandler/Monica scenes

Here's the rest of the closet/massage part. I love what Phoebe does!

I'm getting ready to open my massage office within the next couple of weeks. I'm still waiting on the license, the state seems to like to take their sweet time LOL And I've been studying for the National Exam like a mad woman.

I'll have some pictures of the office up soon. I just got my sign up on the outside and my phone is up and my DSL is working!!! It's all coming together! I'm figuring out my software that I'll be using. And I hired 2 other massage therapists.

What would I do if someone started making sex noises? Has that ever really happened?
